Rec Gymnastics Class Descriptions

 

Tiny Tots (9-18 months)

 1 Day Per Week
(40 Mins)
The ratio for these classes is 6:1. These are fun classes involving one on one interaction between the child and one parent/guardian. This class features an introduction to basic motor skills and basic gymnastics skills. The focus is on introducing children to the fun of physical fitness, while improving the self-esteem of the child, motor skills, personal skills, listening skills, and social skills. This class will explore the tumble track/ trampoline, preschool climbing and tumbling circuit, beam, child quad bars. 

 

Tiny Tots (18-24 months)

1 Day Per Week
(40 Mins) 

The ratio for these classes is 6:1. These are fun classes involving one on one interaction between the child and one parent/guardian. Boys 3 - 5 Year Olds

1 Day Per Week
(40 Mins)

The focus of this class is to learn basic gymnastics while improving strength and coordination. Strength and coordination is a big part of this class and will help with any future sport that the child may participate in. These classes include the floor, vault, parallel bars, rings, pommel horse, the single bar, and tumble track. 

Boys 6+

1 Day Per Week
(55 Mins)

The focus of this class is to learn basic to intermediate gymnastics while improving strength and coordination. Strength and coordination is a big part of this class and will help with any future sport that the child may participate in. These classes include the floor, vault, parallel bars, rings, pommel horse, the single bar, and tumble track.

Girls 3 Year Olds

1 Day Per Week
(40 Mins) 

The ratio for these classes is 5:1 and these classes are designed to teach children basic gymnastic skills such as forward rolls, cartwheels, and back rolls (based on child’s development). These classes will teach all aspects of motor skill development while teaching that learning is fun, physical activity is fun, and social activity is fun. This class will explore the tumble track/trampoline, preschool tumbling circuit, beam, bars, vault, and developmental warm-ups which include fine motor and strengthening games.

Girls 4 Year Olds

1 Day Per Week
(40 Mins) 

The ratio for these classes is 5:1. These classes are designed to teach children basic gymnastics skills, while learning to work with other children and follow direct instruction. This class is designed to develop all aspects of motor skill development, including fine motor and strengthening games. Basic gymnastics such as forward rolls, cartwheel, back rolls, and handstands are taught (based on child’s development). The class will explore the tumble track/trampoline, preschool climbing and tumbling circuit, beam, bars, and vault.

Girls 5 and 6 Year Olds

1 Day Per Week
(55 Mins) 
 The ratio for these classes is 6:1. These classes are for the development of basic through intermediate gymnastic skills. Skills are taught in a progressive manner to maximize each child’s ability and make the learning process enjoyable while improving in physical fitness and coordination. The class will include all 4 Olympic events (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor), as well as tumble track and conditioning stations. The class is for beginners to intermediate skill levels.

Girls 7+

1 Day Per Week
(55 Mins) 

The ratio for these classes is 8:1. These classes are for the development of basic through intermediate gymnastics in a safe and positive environment. Skills are taught in a progressive manner to promote physical fitness and coordination using all Olympic events (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor) and tumble track. Conditioning and flexibility stations are also used to promote physical fitness of the child at each event. The class is for beginners to intermediate skill levels.

Girls Advanced 4-6 Year Olds

2 Days Per Week
(90 Mins) 
 This class is by invitation and evaluation only. The ratio for this class is 8:1. This class is for the advanced gymnast who are 4-6 years old working toward progressing her skills to advance to competition. More attention is given to technique, flexibility, strength, and form. The children in this group must be evaluated by the Head Coach or Team Staff before enrolling in this class. This class encompasses all Olympic events (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor) as well as advanced conditioning stations. This class is for advanced skill levels.

Girls Advanced 7 Year Olds and Up

 2 Days Per Week
(90 Mins)
 This class is by invitation and evaluation only. The ratio for this class is 8:1. This class is for the advanced gymnast who is 7 years old or older working toward progressing her skills to advance to competition. More attention is given to technique, flexibility, strength, and form. The children in this group must be evaluated by the Head Coach or Team Staff before enrolling in this class. This class encompasses all Olympic events (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor) as well as advanced conditioning stations. This class is for advanced skill levels.
